The Absolute Beginner's Guide to starting a fitness program.

Are you feeling tired, frumpy, stressed out, and aggravated by yet another advertisement of a spandex-clad, trim, and overly energetic twenty-something telling you to buy some gadget or join a program?

Don't throw in the towel just yet.  Take a deep breath and realize that you can make a few adjustments in your lifestyle to achieve great gains in health and vitality.  There is no need to join a gym, buy expensive equipment, or wear Lullulemon attire.  :)

Here are trio's top suggestions for a realistic, doable approach to feeling happier, healthier, and more energetic.  (Especially for us middle-aged beauties)

 

Simple tips to improve your health!

1.  Walk 20 minutes, 5 days per week.

Download a podcast, chat on the phone, or listen to music.

2.  Have a big serving of veggies at every meal.

French fries are not a veggie, folks, but a handful of carrots, spinach in your eggs, or mushrooms and onions with your lean burger, add up.  

3.  Add protein to each meal.

Gone are the days of toast for breakfast.  Greek yogurt, protein shakes, and eggs are a smarter start to your day.   Add protein powder to your cereal or pancakes if you must have them for breakfast.

4.  Add 2, 20-minute strength sessions per week.

This will keep your muscles strong.  Please take a few minutes to stretch as well.

5.  Prioritize sleep.  If you can stay in bed a bit longer, do it.

Sometimes this is easier said than done, but research shows a multitude of benefits for being well-rested. 

6.  Keep a gratitude journal and review daily.

Today especially, we need to concentrate on the good.  I think 2021 put us all in a collective funk.  Mindset is everything.
